The Child Advocacy Center of Southeast Indiana is thrilled to announce $133,535 in donations from the annual Mardi Gras fundraiser held February 23. Now in its fifth year, Mardi Gras has become a huge force for good in the lives of children and families in crisis.

“First and foremost, a huge ‘thank you’ from the bottom of our hearts for helping us raise over $130,000 for CACSEI,” says Kelly Bridges, Associate Director of CACSEI.

Over 600 people attended Mardi Gras at the Lawrenceburg Event Center. For months prior, candidates in each of CACSEI’s seven-county service area raised funds in pursuit of their King and Queen honors at the event.

Toni Minning and Casey Knigga of Dearborn County raised $32,367 through the help of gracious donors who contributed to many fundraisers of their own doing. “Of the $133,535 raised, over $62,000 came from our Kings and Queens,” says Bridges.

A huge thank you to all the Kings and Queens who worked so hard to contribute!

  • Carrie and Joe Fisk: Ohio County
  • Kim and Paul Adams: Ripley County
  • Jennifer and Allen Scudder: Switzerland County

Stephanie Back, Executive Director of CACSEI notes, “There are many places people can donate their time and money in southeast Indiana. That they choose this CAC and these kids is humbling. We are forever in their debt.”

Funds from the event will help CACSEI cover increased costs from expanded space at their satellite CAC in Madison, furnishings for a new satellite office in Greensburg coming this year, and matching grants. “Because these funds are unrestricted, we can use them as matches for grants and awards throughout the year, further expanding the power of each dollar donated,” says Bridges.

Mardi Gras 2020 will happen next February 29. Stay tuned to our Mardi Gras Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/cacmardigras/ for updates or follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/region15cac/
