CACSEI hiring Development Coordinator

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Southeastern Indiana is hiring a Development Coordinator to help us expand our mission, reach, and services to children and families. Responsibility Summary:

SUPERVISED BY: Executive Director/Associate Director
SALARY: $40,000-$50,000 / negotiable depending on level of experience
BENEFITS: Vacation time, sick time, workman’s comp, health stipend and retirement
benefit (No Medical Benefits at this time)
WORKING HOURS:  Full Time, 40 hours per week, daytime business hours, some
evenings, and weekends
STATUS: Exempt
DEFINITION: The coordinator is primarily responsible for assisting in fundraising and
development activities of the agency to include but not limited to marketing and promoting the
Children’s Advocacy Center, organizing special events and coordination of volunteers.

Minimum Job requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) or Master’s Degree (preferred) in communications, marketing, public relations or a related field.

Experience: Candidate must be comfortable with public speaking. He/she must possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience in development, fundraising, communications and/or event planning/coordination/execution.

Job Description- Specific Duties:

  • Assist the Children’s Advocacy Center in planning, developing and executing fundraising strategies
  • Ensure the profitability of fundraising events by securing sponsorships, in-kind contributions, and support
  • Cultivate donors, event participants, sponsors, community organizations and volunteers.
  • Attend community meetings, such as the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, etc. to network with individuals and organizations
  • Prepare and deliver well-written, persuasive presentations at speaking events
  • Collaborate with current website developer to provide writing, editing and design services
  • Assist in creating marketing and fundraising materials
  • Submit press releases to the media about fundraising events
  • Respond to radio and television requests about events
  • Utilize social media to promote fundraising events
  • Maintain the Child Advocacy Center website events and donate now pages
  • Develop program  brochures and flyers about fundraising events
  • Develop and maintain donor database
  • Assist in coordinating all fundraising and special events
  • Participate in agency-related meetings on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis and provide statistical reports
  • Seek out ongoing continuing education opportunities related to the best practices in the field
  • Other duties as assigned by CAC leadership

Job Description- Specific Requirements:

  • Excellent communications skills (written, verbal and active listening)
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and accuracy while adhering to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite and other marketing software
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with co-workers, business partners, donors, volunteers, etc.
  • Knowledge of the philanthropic sector within the community
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong editing skills; meticulous grammar and spelling
  • Timeliness and accuracy of data entry
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, confidence and ethical standards
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Must respect and maintain confidentiality

  • Must be able to adapt well to the structure and environment of the center
  • Subject to background check, including Criminal and Child Protective Services
  • Must have valid Driver’s License, vehicle and willing to travel in our region

Physical requirements:

  • Requires normal range of hearing, eyesight, coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to record, prepare and communicate reports and operate office equipment.
  • Requires ability to lift 20 pounds to waist height as well as bending, stooping and reaching.

This position comes with a minimum one-year probationary period.
